One of the world's greatest singers, Katherine Jenkins, is
coming to Christchurch Park next year for one of the town's biggest
ever concerts.
The classical diva will sing "The Last Night of the Proms" in
Ipswich on Saturday 2nd July 2011 after the Borough Council signed
a deal with promoter Envy Productions UK Ltd.
The concert will take place during the middle weekend of the 2011
Ip-art festival, which is celebrating the 20th anniversary of
Ipswich Music Day, East Anglia's biggest free one-day
festival.
Councillor Andrew Cann, the Council's Culture portfolio-holder,
said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with Envy
Productions UK to bring this event to Ipswich. Katherine Jenkins is
a true superstar and this underlines our commitment to bringing the
biggest names to the town."
Clare Trickett, Director of Envy Productions UK, said: "We are
very pleased to be working together with Ipswich Borough Council in
2011. Christchurch Park is the perfect setting for Katherine to
perform the Last Night of the Proms."
Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins has wowed millions of fans
in a glittering worldwide career. And that career is still growing
in popularity. She sang at the memorial service to Sir Bobby Robson
last year after making friends with the former Ipswich Town
boss.
