Music Day 2009 was the biggest and best yet- with approx 30,000 people show up to enjoy the glorious weather and the incredible line up on offer. It was impossible not to pick up on the festival atmosphere in Christchurch Park as thousands of people soaked up the sun and enjoyed all that the day had to offer. Across its nine stages the free music festival encapsulated an exceptional range of music from Samba to Strings along with plenty of scintillating new bands and acoustic artists from in and around Ipswich. Music Day has finally come of age! 18 years ago, the first Music Day took place in Christchurch Park ....yes, 1991 saw the birth of what is now the largest, free, one-day music event in the East of England. Through the years, the biggest family day out in Ipswich has expanded and developed and today you can enjoy terrific entertainment offered on no less than six separate stages in the park, plus music in Christchurch Mansion and St Margaret’s Church. Craft stalls, a children's fairground and food concessions complement the best in local music talent, as all come to perform in the perfect park surroundings.
